Prior to joining DebateDrills, my topic prep was pretty much nonexistent, consisting of a single case for each side. Competitions were as basic and uninspired as my prep. The shift that came from jumping directly from lay middle school debate to circuit debate came as a big shock to me but I was able to manage thanks to DebateDrills. Admittedly I was on the fence at first, feeling awfully discouraged after losing miserably my first few tournaments, but I was able to get over this mentality. Drilling with coaches and practicing with the other members made for a great and effective orientation to the wide and scary world of circuit debate. The invaluable advice given by both coaches and other debaters allowed me to both improve and adjust myself to my new environment. By far, the best part of being a part of DebateDrills was the prep. Collaborating with others gave me time to really focus on the actual debating rather than having to spend most of my time cutting cards. In addition, being able to see the thoughts and ideas of those who were already accomplished on the circuit was a great insight into how successful individuals were able to get there. All in all, DebateDrills is definitely the best choice for both independent debaters and those who simply want the extra help.
